Sustainability Earns Top Ranking 2017
 
Daemen's Sustainability Program - top ranking in the nation among the “Best Value Small Colleges for an Environmental Science Degree”
 
The only Western New York college to be named to the 2017 ranking by Best Value Small Colleges, The award was presented in honor of Daemen’s outstanding achievements in preventing and diverting wasted food. 

Daemen College received a Food Recovery Challenge Regional Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, making it the only college in New York State to receive this distinction.The award was presented in honor of Daemen’s outstanding achievements in preventing and diverting wasted food. 


                  

Program Highlights

  • First program in Western New York to offer a curriculum focused on educating students on sustainability concepts and how they can be applied to our modern communities.
  • Supported by an extensive network of partnerships established by Daemen College Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement.
  • Students, working with community leaders and residents, will integrate coursework in developing practical solutions to community problems to promote the social, environmental, and economic well-being of communities around the globe.
  • Coursework in sustainability and a chosen focus area strengthens trans-disciplinary problem solving in local and global communities.
  • Students have the option to  select Double Ups, allowing them to complete two majors in four years.
  • Social entrepreneurship training prepares for ethical, proactive, and creative approaches to improve communities.
  • Global and local projects provide a “sense of community” connecting with its natural, built and cultural dimensions.

  • Small class sizes (10:1 student/teacher ratio) provide personal attention to each student from faculty members dedicated to teaching excellence
